“The soul is healed by being with children.”

Dostoevsky’s words are undeniable. And yet the world seems to be steeped with suffering souls, for my travel documentaries are full of children that are denied the joy of childhood and the certitude of a future. And yet it is often these under privileged children that fill my camera lens with cheerful smiles and dreams that their picture will travel far and wide.

To photograph a child is a joy; to photograph a destitute child is a heartbreaking privilege. I never get my subject to pose, but always try to capture the fleeting mood. This calls for great patience, but the rewards are to be able to record spontaneous moments.
